As of last night, we have raised $670 so we are now directing donations to go towards the mobile health clinic.  Thank you all for your generous support.

*Still working on that button code…For some reason it alters when pasted into the blog page, so just email us & we’ll send it to you*

We are not sure of the exact total as of yet, but it looks like we reached our goal of $600! Please, if you have made a donation of $30 or more, let us know if you’d like a gift!

A great start

July 29, 2009

We seem to have ongoing issues with the button code, please email us if you would like it & we’ll send it that way. We are trying to correct the issue on the ‘link us’ page.

I woke up this morning to find that several more donations were made! In total we have raised $410 for the boys’ surgeries.

THANK YOU!

Please continue to help us by spreading the word. And remember- if you make a donation of $30 or more, we want to send you a gift! Kerry is happy to sew her little heart out for this cause.

Love,
Kerry, Lauren & Kelly

Day 1

July 28, 2009

Thanks to several generous donors, on day one $230 has been contributed towards Buu and Tuy’s surgeries! We need to keep up the momentum. And by the way:

We also have the opportunity to sponsor a mobile health clinic. With a sponsorship of $500 we would be able to send a medical team of 5 physicians and a pharmacist to a rural remote village of Thua Thien Hue to provide free medical services and dispense free medication to the poor.  We would need your help to move forward with this!

Our First Project: $600 to Change Two Lives

July 27, 2009

When we decided to work with Friends of Hue for our first project, we were planning to sponsor a three month old infant in need of heart surgery.  The child’s family had saved half of what was needed and we were hoping to assist in raising additional assistance. Within twenty-four hours of learning about this child, we got word that he had passed away.

And so, with a great sense of urgency, we post today to tell you about the two children whose surgeries we would like to sponsor with your help.  These children are not orphans, but children with loving families who are desperate in their need and petitioning Friends of Hue for help.

Buu, age 9

Surgery needed:  Facial Deformity correction

Sponsorship money needed: $300

Tuy, age 2

Surgery needed:  Cleft Palate correction

Sponsorship money needed: $300

Facial Deformity and Cleft Palate are not mere “cosmetic” problems.  These are problems that can seriously impact a child’s ability to eat, drink and speak – not to mention the social implications.

Please remember that we are not asking you to give any money to us.  If you are willing to contribute toward the needed surgeries, we are directing you to contribute directly to FOH.  We cannot do this without you!

Please see our Donate & Gift page for details on how to contribute & check back often to see how our fund raising progresses!

We urge you to check out the Friends of Hue website to find out more about how they started, their operations, what kinds of projects they support, & their members. Please note that it is completely volunteer driven with only a small number of paid in-country staff.
